Active oxygen species

  • Recently, due to changes in living environment and eating habits, interest in active oxygen, which is involved in various adult diseases and aging, is increasing.. These ROS interact with cellular components such as lipids, proteins, carbohydrates, and DNA to alter oxidative damage and enzyme activity, causing various diseases such as heart disease, ischemia, arteriosclerosis, and cancer as well as brain diseases such as stroke and Parkinson’s disease. It is reported that it not only damages biological tissue but also promotes aging.

  • The need for the development of antioxidants that can regulate reactive oxygen species in vivo has been emphasized, and traditionally well-known antioxidants include vitamin C and E, as well as polyphenol compounds.

Existing LNP problems

  • Stability for storage and efficiency of antigen expression of delivered mRNA should be improved.
  • Existing second-generation LNP technology is not developed for human vaccines, so it has little immunity induction
  • Helper lipids and PEG lipids, including the ionizing lipids that make up the LNP formulation, are injected into the body in greater quantities than mRNA in fact; these substances can enter the body and cause toxicity or side effects.

The Candidate

  • The excavated PEG lipid candidate is subjected to optimization process based on various uses and possibilities, and it is being promoted to avoid existing patents through this method
  • Recently, an international paper has been published that autophagy in T cells is maintained by one of our candidate substances and is related to function and vaccine response (see article)
  • LNP substance that activates physiologically active substances, low tolerance and toxicity, and expected to have a combined effect of immune enhancement (Immunoinducible)
  • Anti-inflammation of the LNP component itself and anti-aging (activation) of immune cells are expected (see article)
  • It is possible to manufacture various LNPs through the construction of LNP platform using bioactive substances
